Raskelf plays its cricket during the summer on Wednesday evenings in the Pilmoor league, which covers teams in the immediate locality and on Saturdays in the Nidderdale league which is mainly in the Harrogate, Ripon and Pateley Bridge areas of North Yorkshire.
We also run an U12s team which plays in the Thirsk and District U12s league, an U14s team which plays in the Galtres league on Sunday mornings, an U15s team which plays in the Wath league and an U17s team which plays in the Nidderdale League.
Raskelf is a small country village situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, England. The electoral role boasts a population of around 400. The church has a wooden steeple and there still exists a 'pound' where stray animals were once kept. There are two public houses, The Old Black Bull and 'The Three Tuns'.
The village itself is split into two, 'The Green' and the main village which are about 400 yards apart. It is situated just off the A19, 2.5 miles north of Easingwold and 9 miles south of Thirsk. It can be reached by either travelling from Easingwold, turning left at the round about at the top of Long Street, along Raskelf Road, or directly from the A19 (just after the Easingwold bypass travelling north), or from Helperby which connects Raskelf to the Boroughbridge/Harrogate areas of North Yorkshire
Raskelf Cricket Club Established 1993
In 2004 Raskelf amalgamated with Thircon to produce two teams both in the Third division of the Nidderdale league. That season the 2nd were relegated to the 4th Division with the 1st team being promoted to the 2nd Division. The season 2005 saw both teams staying in their respective leagues. In 2006 the seconds were relegated to 5th division. In 2007 the first were relegated to division 3 where they are today and the seconds to division 5. The seconds were relegted each year after that and are now in division 7.
